Calvin Cornell Haas
Calvin Cornell Haas, born on January 27, 2010, infant son of Dr. Nathaniel & Jeanna Haas, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at UW Hospital & Clinics, Madison, WI, due to complications following a recent heart surgery. Calvin is survived by his parents, Nate & Jeanna, his sister Sophia, all of Spring Green, WI, his grandparents Gary & Chris Haas and Joe & Julie Budworth, both of Lancaster, WI, great grandparents Martha Wetter, Cuba City, WI, Maurice Landon and John & Marcella Budworth, all of Lancaster, WI, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is joined in heaven by family members who preceded him, including his great grandparents Charlotte Landon, Robert Wetter, and Aloys and Bernadine Haas, as well as his uncle Jacob Haas.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 23, 2010, at St. Clements Catholic Church, Lancaster, WI, at 1:00 p.m. with Father William Seipp and Father William Nolan officiating. Visitation was from 11:00AM until time of services at the church. A luncheon followed in the church basement immediately following the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
Although Calvins stay with us was a brief 83 days, he touched the lives of so many, including his family and friends, along with the excellent nursing and physician staff who provided care for him at American Family Childrens Hospital, Pediatric and Cardiac Department, in Madison, WI. He will be especially missed by his adoring big sister who will forever feel his guiding presence. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Calvins honor.
Chester L. Haas
Chester L. Haas, age 95, of
Cassville, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the
Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. Chester was
born on June 29, 1918, the first child of Henry and Edna (Cardey)
Haas. When Chester was one year old, his parents
moved to the farm they purchased east of Cassville.
This farm was to be his home for the rest of his life.
He attended Elwell School and graduated from Cassville High
School in 1936.
Chester was a World War II Army Veteran and a
charter member of the Cassville VFW. After
returning from the service, he farmed with his father and brother,
Marvin, on the family farm. In 1950, they were
the state winner of the Wisconsin Grassland Farming Contest.
He continued to farm with his brother after the death of
their father in 1952.
Chester was a very avid reader, being
particularly interested in United States and World History and all
phases of nature. He also enjoyed reminiscing
with friends and relatives about the old days.
Chester is survived by his brother, Marvin,
Cassville; sisters: Betty (Bill) Clauer and
Sharon (Jim) Weisbenner, both of Lancaster; and several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his
sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Jerry Bussan.
Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, with
Rev. Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial with
military honors accorded by the Cassville VFW Post No. 7080 and
Cassville American Legion Post No. 352 was in Seventh Day
Adventist Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called one hour
prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Francis A. Haas
Francis A. Haas, age 77, of Cassville,
passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at his home. He
was born on November 16, 1936, the son of Arch and Rose (Reding) Haas.
Francis graduated from Cassville High School in 1954.
Following graduation, he was drafted in the United States Army,
serving his country in Germany until his honorable discharge.
Francis returned to the Cassville area and farmed his grandparents
farm. He enjoyed bowling, softball, and playing cards.
Francis loved children.
Survivors include his brother and sisters:
Monroe (Dorothy) Haas, Bloomington; Bernice (Robert Stew) Kepler,
Amherst Junction; Helen Haas, Oregon; Ruth (Dave) Schreiner, Deerfield; two
sisters-in-law, Ruth Haas and Pat Haas, both of Cassville; eighteen nieces
and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great
nieces and great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in
death by his brothers: Norman, Louis, LaVerne, and
Maurice.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday,
October 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville
with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with
military honors was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville.

Marvin "Ryan" Haas
Marvin Ryan D. Haas, age 90, of
Cassville, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014, at home.
Marvin was born on December 26, 1923, to Henry and Edna (Cardey)
Haas. He spent his entire life on the home farm where he
was born first farming with his father and his brother, Chester, and then
with Chester after the death of his father in 1952. He
attended Elwell School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1941.
Marvin enjoyed farming, both working the land and
caring for livestock. He liked to operate and maintain
all of his farm machinery, and especially in his later years, he was
particularly fond of his Case IH Scout. He repaired
clocks for many years and built both a grandfather and grandmother clock.
He also, when younger, maintained bee hives and produced and sold
honey in the local area. For the last forty years he
mowed and took care of the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
Marvin cared for his older brother, Chester, during
Chesters last year so that he could continue to stay at home.
Marvin is survived by his sisters, Betty (Bill) Clauer
and Sharon (Jim) Weisbenner, both of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and
brother-in-law, Pearl and Jerry Bussan, and his brother, Chester.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
December 9, 2014, at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev. Pamela
Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Seventh
Day Adventist Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called one hour
prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Norman C. Haas
Norman C. Haas, age 77, of Cassville, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 13, 1933, in Cassville, the son of Arch and Rose (Reding) Haas. Norm attended country school in Cassville and was employed at Kleinpell Lumber before entering the service and serving his country during the Cold War. Following his honorable discharge, Norm was employed with Walz Lumber. On November 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia Weidemann at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Norm was later employed with Wisconsin Power and Light for thirty years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Knights. Norm was very active in the Cassville Community. He was a volunteer fireman for fifty years, served as fire chief for twelve years, and was the fire inspector for many years. Norm also drove school bus for forty years without a scratch on the bus and participated Twin-O-Rama for thirty years. He was caretaker and sexton for St. Charles Cemetery for over twenty years. Norm was also a member of the Cassville Ski Busters snowmobile club and was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Haas, Cassville; two children: Rod Haas, Minneapolis, MN; Sandy (Paul) Haverland, Cassville; three grandchildren: Tera Haas, Woodbury, MN; Tricia and Todd Haverland, Cassville; his brothers and sisters: Francis Haas, Cassville; Monroe (Dorothy) Haas, Lancaster; Bernice (Stu) Kepler, Amherst Junction, WI; Helen Haas, Madison; Ruth (Dave) Schriener, Deerfield; his sister-in-law, Ruth Haas, Cassville; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his brothers: Maurice, LaVerne and Louis Haas.
Funeral services were on Monday, February 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was held in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Sunday, February 20, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church where a 3:00 p.m. scripture service was held. Friends also called on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is assisting the family. Sharlene Haas
Sharlene M. Haas, age 78, of Potosi,
passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at UW Hospital and Clinics in
Madison. She was born on March 31, 1937, in Waterloo, IA, the
daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Ziemer) Ryan. Sharlene
graduated Waterloo High School and furthered her education at nursing school in
Dubuque, IA. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center for
several years. On February 27, 1960, Sharlene was united in
marriage to Joseph Haas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA.
After raising her family, she went back to work as a nurse's aide at
Orchard Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1999. Sharlene was a
member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tennyson and enjoyed fishing, playing
cards, and gardening. She loved spending time with her
grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Dan,
Ken, Larry (Penny), Robert (Bridget), Randy (Sandra) Haas; Maureen (Harry)
Shaben; Laurie Eisele; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two
sisters-in-law, Marti Ryan and Sarah (George) Pemsl; a brother-in-law, Jim
(Mary) Haas; a close friend, Don Morsehead.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two
granddaughters: Blaire and Jamie Haas; and a brother, Jim Ryan.
Funeral services was held on Tuesday, November 24,
2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father
Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the church

Betty A. Haberlie
Betty A. Haberlie, age 69, of Lancaster, Wisconsin died on November 17, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, after a brief illness. She was born on March 22, 1940, in Lancaster Wisconsin, the daughter of J. Stanley and Retha (Jack) Noble. On October 10, 1959, she married James Haberlie in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
She was employed by Croft Shur-Save and then Dicks Supermarkets for over 3 decades before retiring in 2006. She recently has been involved in the Lancaster City Council and volunteered at the Thrift shop.
Her interests included playing cards with the card club, going to plays, drinking Kessler, finding deals, enjoying campfires, spending time with her grandchildren and family and laughing a lot. Her stories and humor will be missed by many.
She is survived by three children: Michael J. (special friend Donna ONeil) Haberlie, Lancaster; Vickie L. (Kurt) Streicher, Bettendorf, Iowa; and Jo Ellen (Jeff) La Grange, Milwaukee Wisconsin; seven grandchildren: Alex, Katie and Jamie Haberlie of Lancaster, Heather and Kyle Streicher of Bettendorf, Iowa and Foster and Anna La Grange of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Noble, Seattle, Washington and sister, Linda Noble, Lake Delton, Wisconsin, her brother-in-law, Jerry Moody, Belmont, Wisconsin; and her card club.

June M. Hahn
June M. Hahn, age 88, of Lancaster passed
away on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster.
She was born on June 9, 1927, in Lima Union Township, the daughter of
Orval and Elsie (Graf) Reed. June graduated from Platteville
High School. On January 9, 1946, she was united in marriage
to Leo J. Hahn at St. Clement Catholic Church. Together they farmed in North
Lancaster Township for over 50 years. June was a school bus
driver for the Lancaster Community School District for over 30 years.
She was a 4-H leader for over 40 years and a superintendent for the Grant
County Fair. June was also a member of the Grant Regional
Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years. She was a dedicated
member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights.
June loved keeping up with her family and their activities and enjoyed
playing euchre, crafting, especially, crocheting, sewing, and knitting.
She also taught adult crafts for Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.
Survivors include her children: Shirley (Donald) Bennett,
Mineral Point; Jeanne Kohlbeck, Wausau; Patricia (Richard) Bugalski, Dubuque,
IA; Michael (Linda) Hahn, Lancaster; Mary Jo (Kevin) Roesch, Potosi; Barb (Bob)
Arnold, Stoughton; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law:
Bernice Muench; Dolores (Alan) Schwantes, Phyllis Schmit, and Roberta Reed; many
nieces and nephews.

Leo Hahn
Leo J. Hahn, age 91 passed away on Friday
June 26, 2015 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born June 19,
1924 in Fennimore, the son of Joseph and Mary (Fuerstenberg) Hahn. Leo graduated
from Lancaster High School in 1942 and was united into marriage to June M. Reed
on January 9, 1946 at St. Clement Catholic Church. Together they farmed in North
Lancaster Township for over 50 years. Leo was a school bus driver for the
Lancaster Community School District for over 30 years, and a Grant County Deputy
for over 40 years. He was a dedicated member of St. Clement Catholic Church and
the Catholic Knights. Leo loved keeping up with his family and their activities.
He also enjoyed wood working, playing a good game of euchre, cribbage, and
dominos.
Surviving is his loving wife of 69 years June, their

Catholic Church, where a 2:45 p.m. parish rosary will be held. Friends also

Loren Haines
Loren F. Haines, age 87, of rural
Lancaster, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 13,
2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He
was born on April 8, 1929, on the home farm in Ellenboro Township, the son
of Sam and Elva (Boyd) Haines. Loren attended elementary
school in several different one room schools and Lancaster Elementary.
Loren was united in marriage to Gladys R. Mohlmann, of Belmont, on
June 28, 1949, at the United Methodist Church in Platteville.
He was first employed at Farley & Letcher Manufacturing in Dubuque,
IA, later drove gravel truck for Becker & Tuckwood, Lancaster, and farmed
three rental farms before buying their own farm in Ellenboro Township, where
they farmed until retirement. He enjoyed deer hunting and
hitting all the local coffee shops in the area.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son, Larry
(Donna) Haines, Lancaster; a daughter, Shari (John) Fuerstenberg,
Platteville; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold
(Virginia) Haines, and Dallas Haines, all of Tomah; one sister, LaVon (Paul)
Naegle, Council Bluffs, IA; a sister-in-law, Agnes Scott, Fennimore.
In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death
by his son, David; twin brother, Leland (Ruth Ann); his wife's parents,
Louis and Elsie Mohlmann.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 19,
2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S.
Madison Street, Lancaster, with Roy Weber officiating.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family

Robert "Bob" B. Hale
Robert Bob Burdette Hale, age 80, of rural Lancaster, died on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 27, 1929, in Little Grant Township, the son of Irven Webb and Ella Mae (Wilson) Hale. Bob attended Predeaux Country School in Little Grant. He enlisted in the US Army and served at Fort Benning from 1948 to1949 and also served in Korea from 1950 to 1951. Bob was employed at Brodtville Cheese Factory when he met Darleen LaVon Pitzer. On August 14, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Darleen Pitzer in Dubuque, IA. He also worked at Ziegler Hampton Hardware before farming. Together they farmed from 1955 until his retirement in 1982. Bob continued to work by delivering milk in Cassville, delivering the Shopping News, and working at the Wonder Wash Car Washes. He also liked woodworking, fishing and reading westerns. Bob was a member of the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109, where we was adjutant for many years and William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344, both of Lancaster.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; three brothers and one step-sister: Elmo, Harold, Charles and Gladys Specht.

JoAnne M. Halferty
JoAnne Marie Halferty, age 71, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on April 7, 1938, in Hinckley, IL, the daughter of Frank T. and Edith (Blanchard) Bullock. She attended grade school in Red Oak, IA. In 1955, JoAnne graduated from Central High School in LaCrosse. She furthered her education at WI State University in Eau Claire, where she studied English and Library Science. In 1964, JoAnne graduated from the UW-Madison with a masters degree in Library Science. On September 19, 1964, JoAnne was united in marriage to James B. Halferty at the Methodist Church in LaCrosse. After their marriage, JoAnne was employed with the UW-Platteville. In 1977, she became the director of the Lancaster Public Library and for the next twenty-six years, she led the community in adding twice the space to the building and bringing the collection on-line. JoAnne retired in 2003. She was a member of PEO, Lancaster Congregational Church and multiple bridge clubs. In her retirement years, JoAnne enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, reading cozy novels, and doting on her grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic birder, feeding and providing homes for many species of birds near her home in North Lancaster Township.
Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, James B. Halferty, Lancaster; Matthew (Laurie) Halferty, Pewaukee; Susan (Jay) Pence, Victor, ID; Laura (Jay) Krishnan, Minneapolis, MN; and three grandchildren: Thomas and Ryan Pence and Sameer Krishnan.
In addition to her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by her brother, Frank.

Betty Hall
Betty L. (Schramm) Hall, age 79,
passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural
Lancaster. She was born January 7, 1937 the daughter of Walter and Ila (Clauer)
Schramm. Betty attended Lancaster High School and graduated from Southwest
Technical College. She was employed and the Lancaster Care Center and
Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Betty also operated the Anchor Inn and Don's
Antique and Junque in Fennimore. She worked hard and
raised eight children. Betty enjoyed wallpapering and refinishing furniture.
Surviving are her sons; Howard, Mike, Brian (Gail) and
Mark Hall, siblings; Donna Irish, Charles (Nancy) Schramm, Ruth Pluemer,
Walter "Bronc" (Lennie) Schramm Jr., Karen Eck, Douglas (Pat), Gregory
(Carol), Tim (Theresa) Schramm, and Kim (Leonard) Jerrett, 16 grandchildren,
many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death
by her children, David, Julie, Daniel, Ronald, her brother in laws; Keith
Irish, Virgil Eck, and James Pluemer.

Graydon G. Hall, age 74, of Lancaster,
passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center,
Lancaster. He was born on May 4, 1942, in Ellenboro
Township, the son of Guerdon and Gila (Marcue) Hall.
Graydon worked for Ellenboro Township as the patrolman from 1977 until 1999.
On August 26, 1978, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Patricia Erickson at
St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Graydon enjoyed
fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He always had a great story to share and will be missed by all who
knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his siblings: Cleobelle (John) Friedrich, Ellenboro; Cleone (Donald) Ames, Potosi; Edward (Karen) Hall, Rockville; Glennice (Mervin) Spease, Platteville; Kevin (Bernie) Hall, Platteville; his in-laws: Gary Erickson, Muscoda; Tom Erickson, Tacoma, WA; Connie (Steve) Reinsbach, Lancaster; Julie (Kevin) Atkinson, Cuba City; many nieces and nephews.

Lavon H. Hall
Lavon H. Hall, age 82, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on September 2, 1929, on the family farm in Grant County, the daughter of Earl and Beatrice (Brandemuehl) Hoffman. Lavon attended country school and graduated from Lancaster High School. She furthered her education at business school in Milwaukee. On January 20,1951, Lavon was united in marriage to Lavon C. Hall, her high school sweet heart. After their marriage, Lavon raised her family. She was a bookkeeper for the Orange Crush Pop Factory of Lancaster and she later began employment at the Independent, where she undertook a variety of duties. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Lavon had a passion for her family as well as genealogy. She housed a large portion of the Grant County Historical library. Local history was very important to her and she served on many local organizations and committees to preserve such history.
Survivors include her three children: Michael J. (Patricia A. Brown) Hall, Madison; Nancy L. (ne: Hall) Beam, Davenport, IA; Brian S. Hall, LaCrosse; two grandsons: Phillip M. (Tricia ne: Welch) Beam and Eric D. (Sara Wright) Beam; three great-grandchildren; Olivia Lavon, Emma Lee, and Kyndel Adeline , Bettendorf, IA; two sisters: Jean (ne: Hoffman) (Ken) Irish, Bagley; Eunice Wyleen (ne: Hoffman) (Clark) High, Amherst; a brother-in-law, Ralph Alcorn; Lancaster; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Lavon was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David A. Beam; three sisters: Marian (Curt) Welch, Joanne (Duane) Schneider, and Lois Alcorn; and a brother-in-law, David Alt.
Funeral services were on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Patricia Hall
Patricia L. "Pat" (Erickson) Hall, age
62 of Ellenboro, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016 at Mercy
Medical Center in Dubuque, due to multiple medical complications after open
heart surgery. She was born in Lancaster on July 28, 1954, to Robert and
Irene (Duve) Erickson. After graduating from Lancaster High School, she
worked at Loudspeaker Component Corporation where she met her future husband
and soulmate, Graydon Hall. She began working at Walmart
in Platteville in 1992, and worked there until the time of her passing.
On August 26, 1978, she was united in marriage to the
love of her life, Graydon Hall at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.
In their nearly 38 years of marriage they did everything together, including
going fishing and their spur of the moment Sunday day trips. They would pack
a lunch, set a destination, and just drive. Pat and
Graydon were truly made for each other. His sudden passing on June 3, 2016,
left a huge void in her heart and soul. She was a great cook who loved
sharing her knowledge and recipes with loved ones.

Muscoda, and Tom Erickson, Tacoma, WA; Graydon's siblings, Cleobelle (John)

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents,
and her husband's parents, Guerdon and Gila Hall. Also preceding her in
death were great-nephews Kyle Miller, Gideon Pulver, and Wayne Hall.

November 26, 2016, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S.
Madison St, Lancaster, with Bill Manthe officiating.

Daniel N. Hampton, age 56, of Mt. Hope, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at his home. He was born on March 30, 1957, the son of Norbert and Rose (Barr) Hampton. In 1975, Daniel graduated from Bloomington High School. He worked various jobs upon his high school graduation. Daniel was employed with Wunderlin Builders in Platteville for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking care of his yard, garden and cats. Daniels greatest joy was keeping up with his grandchildrens activities.
Survivors include his children: Season Hampton, Holly Hampton, and Justin (Becky) Hampton; grandchildren: Peyton and Taylor Deutsch; Haley and Whitney Hampton; and one on the way; two brothers: Darrell (Anabelle) Hampton; Donald Hampton; his life partner, Deb Gelbach and her daughter, Bobbie (Jamie) Post, and their son, Bradly Lolwing.

Delores C. Hampton
Delores C. Hampton, age 84 of
Lancaster, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in
Lancaster. She was born December 3, 1932, the daughter of Arthur and Laura
(Kelly) Burgraff. Delores graduated from Lancaster High
School in 1950. On September 22, 1953, Delores was united
into marriage to Norman "Jiggs" Hampton at St. Charles Catholic Church in
Cassville. She was a homemaker and raised her seven
children. Delores also provided care for many of the area
children. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic
Church. Delores enjoyed traveling, going to the casino
and any activity that involved her family. She loved
attending any sports activity that her children and grandchildren
participated in, especially football and wrestling. As
Delores became a resident at Atrium Post Acute Care, she appreciated the
staff and their compassion.
Surviving are her children: Mike (Jean), Dennis
(Carol), Robert "Buck" (Jackie) Hampton, all of Lancaster, Becky (Douglas)
Schildgen, Waterloo, IA, Laurie Hampton of Holmen, Sandy (Gary) Schildgen of
Lancaster, and Tami (Bryan) Quinn of Dodgeville, 20 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren, a sister, Marita Seitz of Prairie du Chien, many nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in
death by her husband Norman "Jiggs," a granddaughter, Stephanie Schildgen, a
sister, Marcella "Sally" (Robert) Leibfried, two brothers: Norbert (Dorothy
"Dot") and Arnold (Delores) Burgraff, a brother-in-law, Frank Seitz.

Emma E. Hampton, age 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Bloomington, died on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on July 21, 1919, in Beetown Township, the daughter of Sidney and Wessie (Dudley) Gates. Emma graduated from Bloomington High School. She was employed at the Bloomington Telephone Company as an operator. Emma later was employed as a secretary at the Agriculture and Soil Conservation Services office. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. Emma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and keeping up with her active family.

Norman Hampton
Norman L. Jiggs Hampton, age
83, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the
Lancaster Care Center. He was born on November
24, 1930, in Cassville, the son of Laverne and Gertrude (Kirschbaum)
Hampton. Jiggs graduated from Cassville High
School in 1948. After graduation, he was involved
with the rodeo out West and worked in the wheat fields.
On September 22, 1953, Jiggs was united in marriage to
Delores Burggraf at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.
After his marriage, he was employed with the Grant County
Highway Department for many years. Jiggs loved
horses. He was an avid outdoorsman especially
enjoying hunting and fishing. His greatest
enjoyment in life was spending time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Delores of
Lancaster; his children: Mike (Jean) Hampton;
Dennis (Carol) Hampton; Robert Buck (Jackie) Hampton; all of

Heidi Margret Handal, age 20, of Lancaster, went home to be with her Savior on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. She was born on August 25, 1990, in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Issa and Mary (Rader) Handal. Heidi graduated from Lancaster High School in 2008. She furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, where she was a junior majoring in Accounting. Heidi was serving an internship at DuTrac Community Credit Union in Dubuque, IA, as an internal auditor. She was a member of the Rolling Hills Church in Platteville. Heidi loved to cook and gather people together to share her love of food. She also enjoyed the art of spinning wool. Heidi had a vast knowledge of trivia and facts.

Robert J. Hansen passed away unexpectedly
on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the age of 75. He was
born on October 2, 1940 in
As a loving Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather forever in
our hearts, Robert Hansen is survived by his wife, Shirley Felder-Hansen of
Lancaster; mother, Eleanore Christensen of Chetek; daughters, Carrie (Brian)
Stearns of Cottage Grove, and Cristie (Eric) Fredrickson of Cross Plains.
He was a Grandfather to Henry, Evelyn, Leona, Adalena, and Elijah.
A second chance at finding love was apparent
when Bob and Shirley developed a relationship and married in 1997.
Bob became a father figure to six step children: Tom (Terri) Felder, Jim
(Misty) Felder, Jeff (Dana) Felder, Mary (Philip) Wolf, Sue Felder, and Sarah
(Don) Blevins. Bob was also involved with his step
grandchildren as they looked up to him for love, guidance and support while
attending important events that meant a lot to all 13 step grandchildren: Nathan
& Zachary Felder, Brett & Bradley Felder, Amber Landon, Abbey & Libby Felder,
Carissa (Gary) Koenen, Nicole & Owen Wolf, Donavan (Godson to Bob), Alyssa &
Jauron Blevins.
Bob enjoyed many outdoor activities which included camping,
hiking, biking, walking, and gardening. The artistic side of
Bob was displayed in his wood carvings, woodworking, picture painting, and
stained glass.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Hansen; his
father, Milne Hansen, and stepfather James Christensen.

Dorothy I. Harasha, age 96, of Lancaster,
passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Atrium Post Acute Care in
Lancaster. She was born on July 16, 1918, in Lancaster, the
daughter of William and Essie (Edward) Garthwaite. After
graduating from Lancaster High School, Dorothy was employed at the Grant County
Court House with the Agricultural Program. On August 3, 1939,
she was united in marriage to Ralph Harasha. After their
marriage they lived on the family farm for many years. Ralph
preceded her in death in 1978. Dorothy enjoyed many family
events across the United States.

Karen was born on December 30, 1942, to George and Dorothy (Dubel)

cleaning, riding her bike, sweets, and Diet Pepsi.
Karen is survived by her step-mother, Donalean Harris of

Grace M. Haskins
Grace Marlene "Marly" (Deutsch) Haskins,
age 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 216, at Grant
Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Born in New York City, Marly
moved with her family at an early age to St Paul MN, where her father was
employed as an interior decorator, and her mother taught high school
English. After grade school, Marly attended St Paul Academy, earning
her diploma in 1950. She completed her BA degree in English at
Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs NY, later earning an MA in school
administration from UW-Madison. She returned to Minnesota after
Skidmore and became a school teacher in Pine City. In 1955, through a
mutual acquaintance, she met Darrel Haskins, an Air Force officer stationed
at Chamberlain Field in St Paul and the man who would become the love of her
life and future husband. After she and Darrel married October 26, 1957, they
moved to Darrel's hometown Lancaster, WI, where Darrel worked in the family
petroleum business. Small town life was a bit of an adjustment for a
big city girl, but Marly adapted well and they started a family with a son
in 1959 and a daughter in 1962. Marly served the community in a wide
range of roles, including substitute teacher locally and full-time teacher
in Potosi, WI; longtime volunteer at Lancaster Memorial Hospital; board
member of the local hospital auxiliary and eventually president of the
Wisconsin association of hospital auxiliaries; volunteer coordinator for
Orchard Manor; member of the Lancaster City Council, Cub Scout den mother,
Brownie leader, charter member of Lancaster Community Players, and most
recently served on the planning and fundraising committee for the Schreiner
Memorial Library expansion. She especially enjoyed her homemakers
group, book club, and bridge club, and she loved to travel, occasionally
with her mother but most often with husband and soulmate Darrel.
Marly was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy
(Dunn) and Clarence Deutsch, her grandparents Evaline and William W (Billy)
Dunn, and her favorite aunt Jane Graw.
She is survived by her four grandchildren, whom she
loved dearly: Amelia Rolf, Nolan Rolf, Alex Haskins, Carl (Laura)
Geczy-Haskins; her children Sheila (Troy) Rolf and Bill (Lisa Swanson)
Haskins, and her loving husband of almost 59 years, Darrel.

Richard J. Hauck, age 66, of Lancaster, died on Monday, August 29, 2011, at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on August 25, 1945, in Lancaster the son of Elgie and Helene (Hauck) McCartney. Richard attended Lancaster High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1963 serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967. On August 24, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Harriet Harper at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Madison and Denver, settling in Lancaster in 1979. Richard was employed in the hospital lab and also did landscaping. He enjoyed woodworking, music, traveling to Jamaica, and had a passion for cooking. Richard was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, the William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344 of Lancaster and a lifetime member of DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Hauck, Lancaster; two daughters: Rebecca Ann (Terry Bell) Hauck, LaCrosse; Christina (Kevin) Hinkley, Madison; step-grandson, Austin Hinkley; two siblings: Bernard (Jan) McCartney, Roy, Washington; Jan (Darrell) Ludvick, Prairie du Chien; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Hauck.

Evan J. Hauk
Evan J. Hauk, age 13, of Cassville, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on November 10, 1997, the son of Jacob and Jessica (Hoffmann) Hauk. Evan graduated from St. Clement Catholic School in 2010. He was to be an eighth grader at Lancaster Middle School. Evan played Lancaster Youth Football. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, and the river. Evan lived life to the fullest with a heart of gold, adventurous smile, and sky blue eyes.
Survivors include his parents: Jacob and Jessica Hauk; his sister and brother, Annalise and Aiden, who Evan was a wonderful big brother to; maternal grandparents: Kevin and Julie Hoffmann; paternal grandparents: Betty and Russell Peterson; great-grandparents: James and Betty Hoffmann, Ruth Esser-Recker and her husband Don; uncles: Ryan (Lindsey Meyer) Hoffmann; Nicholas (Katie) Hauk; an aunt, Shelby (Robert) Roe; cousins, and many relatives.

Mary Lou Hauck, age 66, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on July 11, 1943, in Burton, the daughter of Ned and Marcella (Kirschbaum) McDonald. She was raised in Cassville. On November 25, 1961, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Gerald W. Hauck at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary Lou was employed at Loudspeaker Component Corp., Hardees and McDonalds in Lancaster. She was a member of St. Clement Church.

Rose Hauk
Rose A. Hauk, age 71, of Cassville,
died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center.
Rose was born on June 13, 1943 in Lancaster, the daughter of Fred and
Agnes (Kirschbaum) Brinkman. On February 8, 1964, Rose
was united in marriage to Phil Hauk at St. Charles Catholic Church in
Cassville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in
Cassville for thirty-five years. Rose was also employed
as a Teachers Aide at the Cassville Public School. She
was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.
Rose enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, fishing,
hunting, and snowmobiling. She was a beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, and will be dearly missed.
Rose is survived by her husband, Phil of Cassville; her
four children: Kelly Hauk; Daniel (Julie) Hauk, Livingston; Troy Hauk,
Cassville; Krisiti (Ed) Kreul, Cottage Grove; three grandchildren:
Alex Hauk, Warren Robbins Air Force Base, GA; Lindsey and Garret
Kreul, Cottage Grove; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two
brothers, Marcus and Ronald Brinkman.

Patricia L. Hauth
Patricia L. Hauth, age 71, of
Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at her home.
She was born on December 3, 1942, the daughter of Leonard and Eva (Leighty)
Griswold. Pat attended Pine Knob rural school and later
graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960. On June 4,
1966, she was united in marriage to Donald F. Sleepy Hauth at St. Clement
Gymnasium in Lancaster. Pat was employed at
Wisconsin Gas Company and later at Dicks Supermarket for over twenty-eight
years. She volunteered at the Grant County Thrift Shop.
Pat enjoyed her cats, spending time at home, reading, flower and
vegetable gardening, bird watching, and visiting with her neighbors.
She dearly loved her family and keeping up with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Sleepy Hauth; a
son, John (Sandy) Hauth and their children, Owen and Carly; a daughter, Jody
(Matt) Thuli and their sons, Jack and Emmett; her brother, Bob Griswold; a
sister, Dorothy (Harold) Wetter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death
by a sister, Ada (Maynard Barney) Sanger; and a sister-in-law, Mary
Griswold.

Marion K. Hazen, age 79, of

Victoria E. Babe Haverland,
age 91, of Potosi, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Manor
Care in Platteville. Victoria was born on
November 22, 1919 in Glen Haven, WI, the daughter of Clement and
Mary (Blum) Gruender. She was a graduate of St.
Andrew High School, Tennyson, and St. Marys Teachers College at
Prairie du Chien. Her first teaching job was in
New Diggins. Victoria married Orlin Haverland on
September 16, 1942 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven.
After her marriage, she enjoyed raising her family and later
taught at SS. Andrew-Thomas School. She was a
member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and past president of the Altar
Sodality. Victoria was also member of the
Catholic Knights and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by six children:
Elaine (Bruce) Shanley, Platteville; Annette (Dan) Kitto,
Waukesha; and Paul (Sandy) Haverland, Cassville; Keith, Joel
(Sherrill), and Alan Haverland, all of Potosi; eight grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Victoria was preceded in death by her husband,
Orlin, on February 10, 2002; two brothers, Urban and Alphonse
Gruender; five sisters, Veronica Lessner, Cecelia Bredael, Johanna
Kalrath, Bernetta Hennebry, and Phyllis, Connell; and a grandson,
David Davis.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Monday,
November 7, 2011, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with
Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in
St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1 to 4 pm with a 12:45
p.m. parish scripture service on Sunday, November 6, at St. Andrew
Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the
church. The Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is

Etola B. Heberlein
Etola B. Heberlein, age 89, of
Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Grant Regional
Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on March 27,
1925, in Bloomington Township, the daughter of Joe and Stella (Houghton)
Foster. She attended rural schools. On
December 2, 1940, Etola was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bill" Heberlein in
Dubuque, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed
until their retirement in 1982 when they moved to Lancaster.
Etola was also employed as a hostess at Kaber's for several years.
She was a great cook and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling,
and the occasional trip to the casino. Etola loved her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family and
friends. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her four children:
Judy (Monroe) Adrian, Cassville; William (Penny) Heberlein, Madison; Diane
(Merlin) Breihan, Lancaster; Vicky (Roger) Case, Lancaster; eleven

Wilbur H. Heberlein
Wilbur H. Bill Heberlein, age 95, of
Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Orchard Manor
Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on April 7,
1919, in North Lancaster Township, the son of Henry and Janettie (Heiliger)
Heberlein. Bill attended Whitcomb School and graduated
from Lancaster High School in 1937. On December 2, 1940,
he was united in marriage to Etola Foster at Dubuque, IA.
In September of 1942, Bill was drafted into the United States Army 2nd
Field Artillery Observation Battalion. He served his
country in North Africa, France, Italy and Germany. Bill
was honorably discharged in September of 1945. He
received five Campaign Stars. Upon his discharge, he
returned to the family farm where he and Etola farmed until their retirement
in 1982 when they moved to Lancaster. Bill enjoyed playing
cards, dancing, traveling, and was an avid sports fan. He
loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time
with family and friends. Bill was a member of the
Lancaster United Methodist Church and a life member of the William Pollock
VFW Post No. 2344 of Lancaster.
Survivors include his beloved wife Etola, Lancaster;
their children: Judy (Monroe) Adrian, Cassville; William

Diane M. Heinrichs, age 63, of
Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her home.
She was born January 8, 1954 the daughter of Larry and Marie (Schildgen)
Drew. Diane graduated Lancaster High School, and furthered her
education at Southwest Technical College in Fennimore. She
married John J. Heinrichs on August 5, 1972 at St. Clement Catholic Church.
Diane worked at the Grant County Clerk of Court office.
She decided to stay at home to raise her family, then eventually
started employment with the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections
Probation and Parole office, retiring in 2012. Diane was a
dedicated member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She
was involved in the Catholic Daughters of America Court of St. Rita #670,
donated her time as a teacher's aide at St. Clement Catholic School, and was
a member of the education commission. For over 30 years,
Diane, her mother Marie, and aunts Sally Langkamp and Florence Schildgen,
counted the weekly offertory at St. Clement Church.
Surviving is her loving husband of 45 years, John; a
son, Brian (Brenda Schneider); a daughter, Sarah (Tom) Driscoll; a
granddaughter, Madeline; and grandson, Joseph Driscoll; her siblings, David
(Deb), Dennis (Sandy), Dean (Cheryl) Drew, Denise (Kevin) Wiest, Donita
(Chad) Evans, and Debra (Chuck) Lange; her godmother Sally (Joseph) Langkamp;
and members of the Heinrichs and Schildgen family.

by a brother-in-law, James Dean.

Herbert Heffner
Herbert Heffner, age 88, of Bloomington, WI, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. Herb was born on February 20, 1925 in Crawford County, WI, to Herbert & Leta (Giddings) Heffner.
Herb married Marie Johnson on February 20, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. He worked as a mechanic nearly all his life, first as an auto mechanic, then later as a tractor mechanic for International Harvester in Prairie du Chien, WI. He did try farming for a short time, but that wasnt for him. His true calling in life was being a mechanic.
Herb is survived by his four children, Carolyn (Bud) Struntz, Copperas Cove, TX, Roger (Dianne) Heffner, Lancaster, Robert (Patty) Heffner, Lino Lakes, MN, and Helen (Ernest) Struntz, Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Millie Heffner, Boscobel; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 2003; his parents; and two brothers, Buford & David Heffner.

Edward J. Herbers, age 92, of Bloomington, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Evansville Manor in Evansville. He was born on May 5, 1918, in Bloomington, the son of Frank and Mary (Klosterman) Herbers. Edward attended St. Marys Catholic School in Bloomington. In September of 1942, he entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in five campaigns. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. On February 3, 1953, Edward was united in marriage to Irene Felder at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, the couple farmed on the family farm near Bloomington, retiring in October of 1976. Early in his working career, Edward also sold insurance. He was strong in his Catholic faith and was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington as well as the Knights of Columbus. Edward was also a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No.148 of Bloomington. He enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James Hermsen
James L. Hermsen, age 88, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at
Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born October 5, 1926 the son
of John and Clementine (Bohnenkamp) Hermsen. Jim graduated from Bloomington High
School and was drafted into the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict.
He returned home to farm in rural Bloomington. Jim was a member of St. Mary's
Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He was also a
member of the American Legion Post No. 5 of Patch Grove. Jim was an avid sports
fan, especially baseball and Green Bay Packer football. He was known for his
great storytelling. Jim dearly enjoyed his family and keeping up with their
activities.
Surviving is his siblings: Arlene (Leonard) Schmidt of
Bloomington, Marjorie Jaynes of Prairie Du Chien, Joanne (Glen) Ward of

Mary Jane Hermsen
Mary Jane Hermsen, age 85, of Bloomington, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. She was born in rural Glen Haven on May 8, 1928, the daughter of Dennis and Harriet Sis (Hochhausen) Rogers. Mary Jane graduated from Bloomington High School in 1946. She married Roy F. Hermsen on November 9, 1950, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Bloomington. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, bingo, playing cards and working at the family business, Hermsens Ace Hardware. Roy and Mary Jane were founders and co-owners of Holiday Haven Campground for five years, which is known today as Jellystone Campground in Bagley.
Survivors include her children: Dan (Julie) Hermsen, Sue (Jim) Bausch, and Jane (Greg) Patterson, all of Bloomington; grandchildren: David (Jessica) Hermsen, Jennifer (Brian) Thiry, Kate (Scott) Bunge, Steve Gotto, Megan Miles, Michael (Nicole) Patterson, Carolyn (Hans) Christiansen, and Christine (Andy Noskowiak) Patterson; great-grandchildren, Ava, Zachary, and Jonathan Hermsen, Jaxson Thiry, Brady, Brock, and Brielle Bunge, Isaac Christiansen; sister-in-law, Charlotte Kluesner, Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy in 2011; her brother, Dr. Wallace Rogers, son-in-law, Jim Gotto and a sister in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Friends called on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Roy F. Hermsen
Roy F. Hermsen, age 81, of Bloomington, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at UW Hospitals in Madison. He was born on July 2, 1929, in Bloomington, the son of Edward J. and Magdeline Lena (Maiers) Hermsen. Roy graduated Bloomington High School in 1947. He married Mary Jane Rogers on November 9, 1950, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. Roy was drafted into the United States Army in 1951, during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953. It was in that same year that Roy became a partner in E.J. Hermsen and Sons in Bloomington. Hermsens Ace Hardware has proudly been in the Hermsen family since 1942. Roy was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church and a member of Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington. He donated his time and effort to many Bloomington organizations. Roy was devoted to his family and operating the family business, which was his favorite hobby and past time.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Hermsen; his children: Daniel (Julie) Hermsen; Sue (Jim) Bausch; Jane (Greg) Patterson; grandchildren: David (Jessica) Hermsen; Jen (Brian) Thiry; Kate (Scott) Bunge; Steve (Angie Bausch) Gotto; Megan (Greg) Miles; Michael (Nicole) Patterson; Carolyn (Hans) Christiansen; and Christine Patterson; his great-grandchildren: Ava, Zachary, Jaxson, Brady, Brock, Brielle, Isaac and one on the way; a sister, Charlotte Kluesner; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Alfred and Edward Jr., four sisters: Marie Leamy, Lucille Hermsen, Delores Willoughby, and a sister in infancy.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church where a 2:45 p.m. parish scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Roy F. Hermsen memorial fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is serving the family.
Margaret M. Hess
Margaret M. Hess, age 93, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born January 23, 1919 the daughter of Chris and Lena (Mumm) Breuer. Margaret graduated from Cassville High School. She married Arthur C. Hess Together they farmed and raised their loving family in Glen Haven Township. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, and Altar Society in Glen Haven. Margaret was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed quilting. Upon returning from a mission trip to Mississippi with her husband Arthur, she learned to make southern fried chicken, that her family dearly enjoyed . Margarets faith and devotion was very important to her. Her Christian way of life, was an inspiration for her family.
Surviving are her children; Connie (Douglas) Kirschbaum; Marcia (Pete) Hampton; Brenda (Robert) Seemuth; Vicky (Richard) Braun; Terry (Mary) Hess; Cindy (Greg) Kautman; Tim (Janet) Hess; Tom (Janice) Hess; Shelly (Gaston) Kingue; Tina (Michael) Evetts; 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, sisters in law, Betty Breuer and Mildred Dietrich, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Anne (Vogt) Cadwell and her brother Francis Breuer.
Funeral services were held on Saturday September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in the Gockel Cemetery, rural Glen Haven. Friends called on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services, at the church, where an 8:30 a.m. parish rosary will be held. The Martin Funeral Home of Cassville is assisting the family.

Marty C. Hicks
Marty C. Hicks, age 47, of Platteville, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1964, in Rantoul, IL, the son of Samual and Bettie (Martin) Hicks. Marty graduated from Platteville High School and furthered his education at Southwest Technical College in Fennimore. He then served his country for four years in the United States National Guard. Marty enjoyed carpentry work and had a passion for space and the solar system. He was currently building an electronic model of the solar system. Marty was a member of EAA.
Survivors include his mother, Bettie Martin, Dubuque, IA; two sisters: Michele (Craig) Hicks Clark, Dubuque, IA, and their children, Dustin, Ariel, and Collin; Myleen (Mike) Bell, Des Moines, IA, and their child, Cooper; uncles: Robert (Delores) Martin, Belmont; Steve (Becky) Martin, Wauzeka; other relatives and many friends.
Marty was preceded in death by his father in 1982 and two uncles, Carl and Jack Martin.
Graveside services with military honors were held on Monday, August 29, 2011, at Mifflin Cemetery, Mifflin Township at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville is serving the family.

CA; Cheryle (Joe) Hesseling, Madison; Valerie (Gary) Hall, Logan,
OH; James F. Vance (friend, Laurie), Wausau; Jeffrey Vance,
Janesville and Brenda (Rick) Pavlovich, Winnebago, IL; a step-son,
Alan (Toni) Hill, FL; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and
the family dog, Teddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Grant
and Leo Atkinson; a sister, Betty Gilbert and a grandson, Brandon
Vance.

Nicholas C. Hill
Nicholas C. Nick Hill, age 66, of Potosi, died peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle with Agent Orange, which he contracted during his three tours of duty in Vietnam, which lead to many other medical complications. Nick was born on February 24, 1947, in Patch Grove Township, son of Ruth A. (Hill) Mezera and William J. Mezera. He served his country in the United States Army from October 1966 until April 1977. Nick was employed as a chef while in the service and at various other places after leaving the Army. He drove semi truck for Freymiller Trucking, where he earned safe driving records for four years in a row. Nick also worked at Capital Warehousing Corp. in Windsor and SSI Technologies, Inc. in Janesville after he retired from trucking. He was a lifetime member of the Berg Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276 of Potosi. Nick loved to cook, do canning, fishing, woodworking, eat ice cream and make crafts. He also enjoyed the time spent with his son, Nicky, family and friends. Nick was a very generous person and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas Nicky Charles Hill, II, Dodgeville; his parents: Ruth and William Bill Mezera, Potosi; his siblings: Mike (Dorren) Mezera, Lancaster; Dianna (Ken) Richardson, Potosi; Karen (fianc Sonny) Schlichtmann, Cuba City; Vanessa (Tim) Rosseter, Boyd; Ellen Ellie (fianc Aaron) Cragg, Potosi; and many nieces and nephews.
Nick was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Randy Mezera, a sister, Geraldine Geri Mezera Winter, maternal and paternal grandparents, two brothers-in-law, Clarence Schlichtmann and Charlie Winter; and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Platteville, with Pastor Dave Barna officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Friends called from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

LaVetta M. Hixson
LaVetta M. "Skip" Hixson, age 93 of
Prairie Du Chien, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Orchard Manor
Nursing Home, rural Lancaster.She was born on April 2, 1924, the daughter
of Henry and Mary "Rene" (Standorf) Kovars. She only weighed one and
one half pounds at birth.She was put in a shoe box and placed on the oven
door with jars of warm water placed on each side of the shoe box to keep her
warm. LaVetta went eight years to grade school at Pleasant Valley
School. She then went four years to Muscoda High School and graduated in
1943. In the fall of 1943shemoved to Rhode Island and worked at the
Navy Base. In 1945 she met Russell Hixson and theymoved to Indiana. She
married Russell in 1946 at Forrest Park Illinois. Russell nicknamed her Skip
which most people still call her today. They resided in Roselawn, Indiana
for three years and latermoved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked at
Vaughn Can Company and did waitress work. After three years they moved back
to Crown Point, Indiana. In 1965 they moved to Rolling Hills, Indiana where
she worked at the Hammond clinic for eight and 1/2 years. In October 1974
they moved to Wisconsin and stayed with Virginia and KeithMilesfor a month
and then moved to Bloomington, Wisconsin. She worked at Rapid Dye & Molding
in Cassville, Wisconsin for a year and a half. She then went to work at
Wisconsin Dairies in Lancaster, Wisconsin for two and a half years. After
Russell died in November of 1979 she stayed with Virginia and Keith Miles.
In February of 1980 started work at 3-M company in Prairie du Chien,
Wisconsin. She moved to Prairie and continued to work at 3-M until September
of 1995 when she retired. Shewas still living in Prairie du Chen Wisconsin
at the time of her death.
Survivors include two grandchildren: Derek Breuer and
Darletta (James) Bauer; two great-grandchildren: Synjun and Shania Bauer; a
son-in-law, Jim (Mary Kay Abing) Breuer; her siblings: Jack (Millie) Kovars
, Alvin (Norlinda) Kovars, Rollin (Kathy) Kovars, Joseph (Elaine) Kovars,
Mary Kovars (Billy) Culligan , Sam Kovars, and Wanda Potter Gansemer; a
sister-in-law, Janice (Bob) Kovars; many nieces, nephews and a
very special friend, Doris Jones.
In addition to her parents, LaVetta was preceded in
death by her husband, Russell Hixson; a daughter, LaVina "Bunny" Breuer; a
great-grandson, Ryan Breuer; her siblings: Virginia (Keith) Miles, Robert
Kovars, Henry O. Kovars, John Kovars, Robert (Nancy) Potter, Lavonne Kovars
Fortner, Rosalie Kovars Post, Jean Potter Buss; Brothers- in-law:
Warren"Scoop"Buss and Joe Demes and three infant Kovars brothers.
